Data

Welcome to the data archive.

Well, to be honest, this is not really the data archive. This is more of a finding aid: the data lives elsewhere, though you can access it through the links maintained here.

Imperiia project data comes in three varieties:

  1. spatial data (zipped shapefiles),
  2. raster data (images of historical maps, georeferenced and otherwise), and
  3. good old-fashioned tabular data (csv files).

All data has been, or will soon be, published to the Imperiia Dataverse. You can access it here (https://dataverse.harvard.edu/dataverse/ImperiiaGIS). Dataverse is an open source research data repository - essentially a tool that makes it easy for scholars to publish and share their data.

Important information about the available data is provided in this section. It is highly recommended that you read through the content before downloading and/or using the data.

That said, links to individual datasets are provided in the DataFinder.

Please note that all published project data is available for download and reuse according to the terms of a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommerical-ShareAlike license. Not sure what this means? Read this clear and concise explanation.
