The photograph I took is a pretty straightforward depiction of condominium development in South Boston on Broadway street. I found it striking and relevant because it was so visually blatant, with the words “Luxury Condominiums for Sale” printed in large type across the sign blocking the view of the actual construction, and because it related so intimately with the topic that ended up filling most of my paper, gentrification. Even in the background of the picture are more new boxy, colorful columns of new development, and the image overall seems representative of the shift in South Boston toward rapid development and demographic shifting.
